MONTGOMERY – Sweeping five of the six singles matches in straight sets and taking the doubles point, the Sam Houston women’s tennis posted its third consecutive non-conference dual match victory blanking New Mexico State 6-0.

The contest held at the Walden Racquet saw the Bearkats up their season record to 4-2. The New Mexico State Aggies fell to 2-4 for the spring dual match season.

Carrie Casey and Mila Milanovic  took the number one doubles 7-5 while Roos Gerritsen and Sahaja Yamalapalli won at number three 6-2 to post Sam Houston’s first point of the match. The victory was the third for the young dual match season for Casey and Milanovic.

Lusine Chobanyan, Gettwart and Milanovic all won quick straight set victories to clinch the match. Casey and Yamalapalli followed up for the fifth and sixth points. Chobanyan remains undefeated at number six singles with a 5-0 record. Casey now sports a 5-1 record in singles while Gettwart and Yamalapalli both stand 4-2.

Sam Houston is scheduled to play host to UT-Rio Grande Valley Sunday at 12 noon at the McAdams Tennis Center.
