HUNTSVILLE - The Sam Houston State volleyball team rallied from two sets down but came up short in a five-set loss to Central Arkansas at Johnson Coliseum Saturday afternoon.
The Sugar Bears (14-13 overall, 8-6 in Southland Conference) took the first two sets 25-21, 25-22 to put the Bearkats (14-12, 10-4) in an early hole.
Sam Houston State got a spark off the bench in the form of De’Janae Gilmore to get back in the match. She had five of her game-high seven blocks in the third set to led the Kats to a 25-20 victory.
Breanne Chausse put together an impressive fourth set with six kills as Sam Houston State once again won 25-20 to force a fifth set, but UCA was able to pull of the upset with a 15-13 victory.
Sam Houston State honored Miller and fellow senior Ashleigh Traylor after the match, their final one at Johnson Coliseum.
The Bearkats close the regular season with road matches at New Orleans on Nov. 14 and at Southeastern Louisiana on Nov. 16.
