HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston State Bearkat baseball team will hit the road on Friday when they head to College Station to take on the Texas A&M Aggies in an exhibition game set for 6 p.m. at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
Parking and admission are free for fans planning on attending the scheduled 12-inning matchup.
The game is the first of two exhibition games the Bearkats will take part in this fall, with the second coming on Oct. 19 when they host Rice at Don Sanders Ballpark.
The Kats claimed their sixth Southland Conference title in program history last year, finishing 39-20 overall. They return 20 letter winners from last year’s team, including all-Southland choices Hayden Wesneski and Hunter Hearn. In all, the Kats return nine pitchers and 11 position players.
Meanwhile, the Aggies return 17 letter winners of their own, including 11 arms and six position players. Led by all-American infielder Braden Shewmake, the Aggies finished 2018 with a 40-22 mark and qualified for their 12th consecutive NCAA Tournament and 34th overall.
