HUNTSVILLE - Designated hitter Chris Andreas, shortstop Ryan Mooney and second baseman Braeden Riley all went 3-for-5 as Sam Houston totaled 14 hits in a 14-8 non-conference baseball victory over Texas Southern Tuesday night.

Each team used four pitchers with Bearkat starter Andrew Massey (1-1) picking up the win with five strike outs and only four hits in four innings work. Evan Lyday (1-2) was the loser.

Sam Houston (1-7) scored four runs in the first and six in the second to jump out to a 10-1 lead.  Texas Southern (4-5) totaled nine hits. The Bearkats also took advantage of five Tiger errors.

Centerfielder Mark Hudson had two hits for Sam Houston and first baseman Taylor Davis, right fielder Greg Olson and catcher Michael Hilliard each had one hit. Hilliard's hit was a solo home run to left field.

Brandon Kimbrel, Jacob McMurtry and Matt Shelton also threw in relief.

The Bearkats' next action will be the Sam Houston Baseball Classic beginning Friday. Northern Colorado and Creighton will be the other participants in the tournament.
