FRISCO – Aurimas Majauskas has been named one of 10 men’s basketball players to be named to the Academic All-Southland Conference team in an announcement made by league official’s on Thursday.
Majauskas was a first team all-academic selection, joining Central Arkansas’ Jordan Howard, Northwestern State’s Sabri Thompson, Houston Baptist’s Reveal Chukwujekwu and Abilene Christian’s Jaren Lewis on the top-five list.
The second team was made up of Colter Lasher (HBU), Travin Thibodeaux (UNO), Sam Burmeister (UIW), TJ Holyfield (SFA) and Jake Kocher (AMCC).
It is the second straight year Majauskas has earned a spot on the team after doing so his junior season. The senior also earned third team all-Southland honors this season after averaging 9.1 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. He also shot .588 from the field, the fourth-best mark in the league.
He is the 22nd Sam Houston player to be named to the league’s all-academic squad and it is the 43rd time in school history a Bearkat has been named to the team.
The honor is the latest for Majauskas, an International Business major from Lithuania, who helped lead the Bearkats to a 21-win season and helped Sam Houston claim 89 victories over the last four years.
