With Sam Houston's victory over McNeese State Wednesday night, the Bearkats upped their season record to 20-6, the sixth season with 20 or more victories in head coach Bob Marlin's 12 years at the helm of the SHSU program.

At this moment, Sam Houston stands as one of only 38 NCAA Division I men's basketball programs that have produced 20-win seasons in at least four of the last five years.

The Bearkats went 22-9 in 2006, 21-10 in 2007, 23-8 in 2008, 18-12 last year and are 20-6 this season. That 104-45 record during the past five seasons ranks Sam Houston 25th among the 36 teams with 20-win seasons in at least four of the past five years.

With three regular season game to go plus the State Farm Southland Conference Post-Season Classic in Katy March 10-13, the Bearkats are out to eclipse their all-time best NCAA Division I season victory mark of 23 wins set in both 2003 and 2008.

Sam Houston will be the No. 1 seed at the Southland Conference tournament and, with the regular season title, is already assured of national tournament post-season play.
