HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston State Bearkats will get their toughest test of the season on Monday when they hit the road for a clash with No. 16 Baylor at the Ferrell Center.

Monday’s game can be watched online on Fox Sports Southwest Plus, or by accessing the FSGo app with John Morris and Jim Haller on the call. Live stats will also be available and fans can get live updates of the game via Twitter by following @BearkatsMBB.

The Kats are winners of three in a row after closing out the Great Alaska Shootout with a win over Santa Clara and following it up with two wins last week in Huntsville. They have done it behind a stingy defense that is allowing just 58.5 points per game, a mark that currently ranks sixth in the nation.

Christopher Galbreath Jr. leads the Kats in both scoring and rebounding after posting double-doubles in each game last week against Schreiner and St. Thomas.

Meanwhile, the Bears won each of their first five games of the year, including wins over Wisconsin and Creighton before falling to Xavier and Wichita State in their last two outings. Point guard Manu Lecampte leads the Bears with 17.3 points per game, while Jo Lual-Acuil anchors a Bear defense that is allowing an average of just 63 points per contest.

The game will be the final game for the Bearkats for nine days as they take time off for final exams, next playing on Dec. 13 at Ole Miss.

Sam Houston dropped a 79-45 decision last year in Waco to a Baylor team ranked in the national top 10 in a game that was the first meeting of the teams since Sam Houston’s near upset of the Bears in the 2010 NCAA Tournament. The Bears lead the all-time series 9-3 over the Kats with all of Sam Houston’s wins coming in Waco.
