HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston State Bearkats will have a chance to finish up its non-conference season with a winning record on Friday when it hosts Utah Valley at noon at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.

Friday’s game can be followed via live stats will also be available and fans can get live updates of the game via Twitter by following @BearkatsMBB.

The Bearkats are coming off a loss at LSU on Tuesday in Baton Rouge, but have done a great job of defending their own home floor, winning all five games at Johnson Coliseum. Coach Jason Hooten’s squad has done it with defense, leading the Southland in field-goal percentage defense and three-point percentage defense.

Abrian Edwards had his breakout game as a Bearkat on Tuesday at LSU, going for 22 points and eight rebounds in his second start of the season. Christopher Galbreath Jr. also turned in his fourth double-double of the season that included a career-high 14 rebounds. He has scored in double figures in each of his last 11 games.

The Wolverines, meanwhile, come in averaging better than 80 points per game and with wins in two of their last three outings. They too have done much of their damage at home, winning six of their seven home games with the one loss coming to in-state rival BYU.

They sport five players averaging at least 10 points per game, led by Akolda Manyang’s 14.1 and Jake Toolson’s 13.5.

This is the first meeting in the history of the series between the Bearkats and Wolverines.
