HUNTSVILLE – Sam Houston State women’s basketball head coach Ravon Justice has announced the signing of Sandra Cannady to a National Letter of Intent, adding her to the Bearkat roster for the upcoming 2019-20 season.

“We are excited to add Sandra to our basketball family,” Justice said. “She’s a versatile player with good size and athleticism. Sandra has accomplished a lot over her high school career and we are looking for those same achievement through her career here at SHSU.”

Cannady, a 6-0 forward from The Woodlands (College Park HS), has been one of the top players in the area for the past three seasons and averaged 20.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 4.0 steals, 3.5 blocks and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 46.2 percent from the floor as a senior.

She was named the District 15-6A MVP and was selected to the TABC All-Region II-6A team following the 2018-19 season after leading College Park HS to its first postseason success in over a decade.

The All-Montgomery County Player of the Year as a senior, Cannady finished her prep career with more than 1,600 points, including 658 as a senior, and increased her scoring in each season.
