BATON ROUGE, La. - The Sam Houston State women finished out the non-conference portion of their schedule on Wednesday night with a 71-58 loss to LSU in Baton Rouge.
Jenniffer Oramas led the way for the Kats (3-6 overall) with 19 points, including 12 in the first half. She connected on three from long range.
The Bearkats (3-6 overall) closed the game strong, scoring the final 10 points of the contest. Sam Houston outscored LSU 23-8 in the fourth period, and they outshot LSU from the field for the game, hitting 40 percent and were 9-for-21 from three-point range.
Lydia Baxter was big under the glass for Sam Houston, grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds.
The Bearkats will now turn their attention to Southland Conference play, opening up the league slate Saturday at Abilene Christian.
