HUNTSVILLE – The Sam Houston State Bearkats will look to put an end to a midyear losing skid on Saturday when they host Houston Baptist at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.
Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. and can be watched on the Bearkat Sports Network. Live stats are also available at GoBearkats.com and fans can get live updates as they happen by following @BearkatsWBB on Twitter.
Sam Houston has dropped each of its last seven outings since an overtime win over Jackson State on December 12, but have picked up each of their three wins on the year in the friendly confines of Johnson Coliseum. That’s where they will host the Huskies on Saturday, concluding a three-game homestand for the Kats.
Jenniffer Oramas is averaging better than 11 points per game for Sam Houston in conference play and the Kats are holding their opponents to just 68.3 points per game in that span; however, they will be looking to get the offense going on Saturday after having shot just 32.0 percent from the floor with an average of 53.8 points per game since Southland play began.
Meanwhile, the Huskies will be looking to end a six-game losing streak of their own after also opening up SLC play with an 0-4 mark. HBU has four wins to its credit this season, but is still looking to tally its first win against a Division I opponent in 2017-18.
SERIES vs HOUSTON BAPTIST
The Kats are 6-5 all-time vs HBU after splitting the season series last year with both teams winning on their home floors. HBU has won three of the last five meetings after SHSU won four of the first six in the series that began in the 2010-11 season.
