LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Sam Houston pitcher Lindsey McLeod has been named to the 2019 National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Central Region third team, the organization recently announced.

The Austin native put together a spectacular senior season with a 22-9 record, and she was voted as the Southland Conference Player and Pitcher of the Year and named first-team All-SLC. The Bearkats won the regular-season and SLC tournament championships to earn a berth to the NCAA Tournament Austin Regional where they upset ninth-ranked Texas 2-1 in the opening round.

McLeod, who was also named to CoSIDA’s 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-District VII softball first team, broke SHSU’s career strikeouts this season with 721. The three-time All-SLC honoree is second in career no-hitters with three and is second in saves with 11.

She was named the SLC Pitcher of the Week twice this year and five times in her career and she set several season school records as well. Her three no-hitters in 2019 are tied for first all-time. McLeod broke the old mark with 41 consecutive scoreless innings pitched during the Bearkats’ 13-game conference winning streak this season, and she broke her school record for most strikeouts in a season (222 in 2018) with 265.

McLeod's 22 wins this season are sixth best in program history, and her 59 career wins are fifth all-time.
