
Sam Houston rolls over Lamar 78-40

Huntsville - Led by Will Bond with 12 points, four Bearkats scored in double figures as Sam Houston State rolled over Lamar 78-40 in a Southland Conference men's basketball game Saturday afternoon.
The 78 points was a season high for the defensive-minded Bearkats. Sam Houston (13-10, 6-5) is 12-0 in games in which they have held opponents under 60 points.
Nathaniel Mason added 11 points for the Kats and Darius Gatson and Terrance Motley each scored 10. Motley led both teams on the boards with 11 rebounds.
Amos Wilson and Hondo Webb led Lamar (3-21, 1-11) with 11 points. Stan Brown pulled down nine rebounds.
Sam Houston never trailed, leading at half 31-20 and by as many as 40 points in the second period.
The Bearkats shot a season best 54.2 per cent from the field (32-of-59) and limited the Cardinals to 30.2 percent shooting.
