HUNTSVILLE — Sam Houston completed the series sweep with a 3-1 win over Kennesaw State on Sunday at the Bearkat Softball Complex.
The Bearkats (17-15, 6-3 CUSA) secured their first conference sweep of the season, their last coming at home against Middle Tennessee in 2024.
Jenny Robison struck first, crushing a two-run home run over the left-center field wall in the first inning. She led the Bearkats with three hits on the day.
Kinsey Hobbs reached on a fielder's choice in the third inning and took advantage of defensive miscues by the Owls. She advanced to second on a throwing error during a steal attempt, then stole third and came home when the catcher's throw sailed into left field. The Bearkats led 3-0 after three innings.
The Bearkats stole three bases, including two from Hobbs, bringing their season total to 35—surpassing last year's mark of 31.
The Owls got on the board with a solo home run off Tiffany Sanchez in the fifth inning, their only run of the game.
Sanchez (4-1) earned the win, pitching five innings while allowing one run on two hits with three strikeouts.
Kendall Daniel entered as relief in the sixth and recorded her first save of the season. She struck out three and did not allow a hit or run in two innings of work.
Sam Houston travels to face No. 6 Texas A&M on Tuesday in College Station. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. on ESPN+.
