Kelvin Riddler, who worked with the Sam Houston State women's soccer team in the program's first two seasons as a volunteer student assistant, became the Bearkats' full time assistant soccer coach in 2005. He assists head coach Marcia Oliveira in all aspects of running the Bearkat program now.
A 1997 graduate of Langham Creek High School in the Cy-Fair Independent School District , Riddler has been playing socccer since he was five. He was Langham Creek's goalkeeper all four years in high school.
A member of National Soccer Coach of America (NSCAA) and United State Soccer Federation (USSF), Riddler leads the goalkeeper training in the field with expertise from licenses and coaching education at national level. Prior to become full time coach at Sam Houston he also worked with clubs in the area, Brenham, and Houston . His extended soccer background and understanding of different schools of soccer along with his passion for the sport, have given him an edge to become a collegiate coach.
He played for seven years on Houston men's club teams and he was also a member of the Sam Houston State soccer club team while getting his bachelor's degree. Kelvin have worked with youth in summer camps throughout the state and served as assistant director at Camp Coyote in Huntsville for three years.
"We are excited and pleased to have Kelvin become a full time member of our staff," Oliveira said. "He has contributed a great deal as a student assistant and volunteer. He is a good coach, a reputable person, and a motivator. He loves the game and wants to help build a successful program here at Sam Houston State .
