Box Score HOUSTON — Sam Houston got some timely hits to knock off Prairie View 7-5 on Tuesday at Lady Panthers Softball Stadium.
The Bearkats (5-6) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second when
Elia Hebel singled and got caught in a run down on a steal attempt that allowed
Brodie Quinlan to score.
Sam Houston got some separation from the Lady Panthers in the fourth.
Kylie Hobbs reached on an error and
Tricia Yarotsky was hit by a pitch which set up an RBI double by Hebel and an RBI single by
Jordan Peno.
Prairie View answered with two runs in the bottom of the frame to cut the lead to 4-2, but the Bearkats responded in the sixth.
Yarotsky and Hebel hit back-to-back solo home runs to increase the lead.
Ellie Grill added an insurance run in the seventh with an RBI single to center field.
Regan Dunn picked up the win in the circle. She scattered four hits over four innings and finished with four strikeouts.
The Bearkats head to Houston this weekend to take place in the Houston Classic.
